Preparing your team for an inventory walkthrough

What to gather before an analyst arrives: stock extracts, hold procedures, and who should join the floor tour.

Team discussing plans in a bright office

Before an Inventory Movement Review, gather stock extracts for the last four to six weeks, your hold and return procedures, and a floor contact who can open receiving, pick, and dispatch areas. Temperature logs help for cold rooms but are not a substitute for walking the aisle.

Invite purchasing and warehouse leads to the opening conversation. One group alone will describe only half the movement story. If your Hong Kong sites use different naming for the same SKU, bring a crosswalk — even a rough one.

Clear a quiet corner for notes and a screen share if remote colleagues join. Analysts will still spend most of the visit on the floor; the quiet corner is for reconciling odd lot codes later the same day.

Tell us about busy dock windows in advance. We schedule around peak inbound so we observe real flow without blocking your customers’ orders.
